   Owner: Cindy Norge  

Cindy is a native of Yorktown, Virginia and has been dancing she the age of six.  She studied tap, ballet, and jazz at the York School of Dance that is located in Yorktown.  She was a cheerleader for the York County League from 1966-1971.  She then became a Majorette during her intermediate and high school years.  In 1990, she started modeling for different agencies until she started teaching danced at local area clubs in 1992.  In ’93 she began competing in Country Line dance and won many awards.  In ’94 she started dancing Country Western Partner in the Pro-Am division at the beginner level.  In ’95 she started dancing in different divisions in the UCWDC events and also opened her very own studio, “Country Bootleggers Dance Studio,” located in Yorktown, Virginia; where she manages and teaches.  In 2006 Cindy, along with her husband Mike, began competing in the World Swing Dance Council (WSDC). 

            Cindy is very active in different charities such as: the Relay for Life, York County Safety Town, York County Natasha House, Golf tournaments, and the American Red Cross.  She was a staff member of the “Atlantic Seashore” which is was  UCWDC event.  She is a board member of the York County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Colonial Shag Club and United Business Group and Retail Alliance.  Cindy has always had such a love and passion for dancing and it definitely shows while she is dancing and teaching.

                      Woody Denmon

 

Ballroom & Latin Instructor

 Sherwood Leo Denmon, Jr. (aka: Woody).  Woody has been instructing different styles of Ballroom and Latin dances for 4 years, he has had the love for dance and have been dancing for years.  Throughout the four years of my teaching career he has choreographed many first dances for wedding couples, father daughter dances, and showcases. He teaches variety of ballroom dances such as Waltz, Foxtrot, and Tango, as well as multiple Latin dances such as the Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, and East Coast Swing.  The dances he enjoy the most are the fun and sexy Salsa, the hot and exciting Tango, and the flirty Cha Cha Cha.  He really enjoy dancing but nothing is more exciting to him is to a students face light up when they have learned a dance and performed in front of crowds and enjoyed themselves.

 

 

Mariah Denmon

 Ballroom & Latin Instructor 

    

Mariah has been instructing for 2 years.  She currently instructs at the Bronze level.

 

 

Elisabeth Tarodi

 American & International Ballroom & Latin Instructor/Coach 

Elisabeth is from Hungary, which is a beautiful country in the middle of Europe. She is a Former Professional Ten-Dance National Champion, and she has more than 35 years experience in teaching, coaching and competing at National and International levels as well. She has a well-known passion for teaching, which helped many of her students to be winners in every age category. She is also famous about her custom-made gowns, Smooth, Rhythm, Standard and Latin as well. Elisabeth is working with Gabor Seres together, who was also National Standard Champion 10 years after Elisabeth won her title as National Ten-Dance Champion.

West Coast Swing Instructor  

Steve & Tonya has been dancing and training the West Coast Swing for 3 years under the owners of Country Bootleggers Dance Studio, Cindy & Mike Norge. They have also been to many WCS dance completions.  They are teaching the Beg. West Coast Swing.

Shag

Darla has been dancing the Shag for over 12 years.  Jim been dancing the Shag for 6 years.  Together they have been teaching for 4 years.  

 

 

      Victoria Osores

Salsa (Aerobics) Instructor        

    

 

 

 

 

 

Victoria Osores is a native of Peru and began her career as a professional ballerina, choreographer, and teacher with the National Ballet Company in Peru.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the National Institute of Culture with emphasis in classical ballet technique and Peruvian folk dance.  Victoria’s professional career, 25 years of experience, and teaching skills have enabled her to teach at the Summer Institute for the Arts for the Newport News Public School system. 

 

 

   Bonnie Griffith

Salsa (Aerobics) Instructor

   

     Bonnie studied ballet and modern dance.  She was a member of a local ballet company at a young age.  She has taught ballet classes though the Newport News YMCA.  She has been dancing the salsa aerobics class of 6 years.  She began taking salsa aerobics with Victoria Osores 2 years ago.  She discovered her love of Latin music and dance, and now is a salsa aerobic teacher with much gratitude to her mentor Victoria. 

 

Mary Ann Laverty, Ph.D

 Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Hip-Hop/Jazz Instructor

   

Dr. Laverty is currently Director of Dance at Woodside High School, Magnate Dance Program at the Center for Communication and Arts. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Laverty was a full-time Assistant Professor at Hampton University in dance where she also directed the Community Children’s Dance Program. She also held an Adjunct position at Christopher Newport University for four years.

Dr. Laverty received her Ph.D. from New York University in Anthropology of Human Movement. While a student at NYU, Dr. Laverty served first as a Teaching Fellow and later Adjunct Professor. Her M.A. was earned from Mills College in Oakland, CA and her undergraduate degree in Dance and Teaching Certification are from San Francisco State University. Aside from teaching the modern techniques of Graham, Limón and Dunham, Dr. Laverty has a strong interest in World dance, primarily in the African Diaspora and has studied Haitian, African, Balinese, Bharatnatyam, Flamenco and Middle Eastern dance.

      

     Middle Eastern Belly Dancing (Traditional Belly Dancing)

         Brihana                              Neferteri
               

       Neferteri and Brihana have both been performing Middle Eastern Dance
professionally for over 20 years throughout the Tidewater area.  They are also members of the Middle East Dance Company (MEDC) and "The Lapis Moon Dance Troupe".  Although their specialty is cabaret nightclub style (aka Middle Eastern Belly Dancing), they have studied and performed Tribal style and many other folkloric styles from Egypt, Morocco, Persia, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Turkey as well.
 
Over the years, they have performed at numerous Hampton Roads restaurants.  Currently, they are performing "Currently, they are performing at various other venues  They have performed at numerous private parties (e.g., birthday, retirement, special occasions), multicultural and diversity type celebrations, retirement and assisted living facilities, local carnivals, and educational and charitable events.
 
Their goal is to share their experience and knowledge with those who are interested in learning more about Middle Eastern Dance.

     Meagan James

   

 Meagan has lived in the Hampton Road area all her life. She is a graduate from Old Dominion University with Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration.  She started Zumba over a year ago and fell in love.  Her passion for the Latin dance aerobics encouraged her to become a certified instructor.  Along with Zumba, Meagan enjoys line dancing; and frequently participates in events where she can share her enthusiasm.

Wendy Brame-Bogie

Zumba, Personal Trainer, Aerobics & Step, Group Fitness, & Cardio-Kickboxing & Yoga Instructor

 Windy is a Certified Personal Trainer, Aerobics & Step, Group Fitness, & Cardio-Kickboxing Instructor with over 10 yrs. of professional experience. She presently teach a variety of Group Fitness classes including Yoga & Pilates, Body Sculpting & Toning & Step-Aerobics for the city of Hampton Dept. of Parks & Rec. & Hampton Univ. She has a lifetime of personal exp. & training in the Health & Fitness industry. She trained in African, Modern & Jazz dance, along with 8 yrs. of Gymnastics.

Samarah has a BFA in Musical Theater/Dance from Christopher Newport University. She has been teaching many forms of dance to all ages for six years.
